Rex Cox
Rex graduated from Dorman High School located in Spartanburg, SC. Shortly after graduation he joined the Marine Corps. In 2005, he was honorably discharged and received a Business Associate Degree from Spartanburg Community College. He then started his insurance career at Peoples Choice Insurance. He opened Quest Insurance Group of Woodruff in January of 2009. In 2013, we changed our name from Quest Insurance to Compass Insurance Group and moved the business back to Spartanburg, SC. He currently resides with his wife Meredith and 3 beautiful daughters in Moore, SC. Meredith teaches in District 6 and also grew up in this community. He values his clients and is very thankful for their business. We have continued to grow as a result of your loyalty to us.
James Nittel
James Nittel was raised in Spartanburg growing up in District 6 and attending Dorman High School. He then graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina with a dual degree in Insurance/Risk Management and Finance. After working for a national carrier for several years it was time for a change and Compass Insurance became home. James specializes in home, auto, and commercial insurance. He lives on the Westside of Spartanburg with his 2 beautiful girls. He enjoys spending time with his children, playing golf, is an active member of the Downtown Sertoma Club and South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation Board.
Marshall Schachner
Marshall was born in Columbia, SC and moved to Spartanburg in 1989. He is the youngest of 9 children and enjoys being a part of a huge family. They spend a lot of time together and have a blast. He started with Compass Insurance in 2009 and has enjoyed working in the insurance industry. He is very grateful for the clients he has met over the years as they have been loyal in trusting him with their assets. We have a great group of people here at Compass and he looks forward to many more years.
Enrique Lopez
Enrique Lopez graduated Wofford in 2008. After graduation, Enrique made the upstate home. As a relatively young insurance professional in an established veteran's field, Enrique prides himself in catering to his client's needs. This means doing business how you feel most comfortable and taking the time to answer your questions. He understands insurance can be confusing, especially to people of other cultures and even our younger generation. As a bilingual, Spanish speaking agent, Enrique has helped many different first time home buyers and business start ups obtain the proper coverage for their needs. In his free time he enjoys activities such as playing classical guitar, practicing martial arts, competitive billiards, and target shooting. Above all else his favorite past time is spending time with his loving family.
Moriah Hocker
Moriah Hocker is a lifetime resident of South Carolina, born and raised in Roebuck. She graduated Dorman High School in 2014 and attended Spartanburg Community College. She loves spending time with her son Elijah primarily enjoying those beautiful, summer Carolina evenings. As lead customer care coordinator and office accountant, she takes great pride in her dedication to Compass Insurance clients, ensuring that their individual needs are attended to diligently and always with a smile on her face. While working for Compass, she became a licensed agent in 2018 and has learned how to cater insurance to meet the specific needs of each client while maintaining the highest possible standard.
Michelle Flowers
Michelle comes to us from Buffalo SC where she graduated from Union High School in 2009. She now lives in Roebuck with her husband Travis and 2 kids. She grew up in the automotive industry helping her father with sales, accounting, and repossessions. In 2020 she decided to branch out and get her Insurance license. She started with Compass in 2021 and has been a great addition to our team. She specializes in personal lines and educating clients about their coverages.
Todd Thorne
Todd joined our team in 2022 when we merged with Advantage Insurance Agency. He is a Boiling Springs SC native with twenty three years of insurance experience, and a former agency owner of 15 years. He’s a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and Clemson University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Todd is married with 2 sons and 1 grandson. He enjoys fishing, golf, and pickleball in his free time.
Rick Mitchell
Rick joined Compass Insurance in 2023. He is a life-long resident of Spartanburg with 32 years of experience in insurance, having owned his own agency for 30. He is married with 1 son and 2 grandsons. In his free time he enjoys golf and spending time with family. He specializes in commercial lines!
